Killing bugs

First a little info.... I am a molecular biology major so you might be getting a few hints now and then from me in the biology department

My hint today is how to kill those pesky insects in your garden and give you a biology lesson while I am at it

Insects are arthropods so they have a waterproof cuticle to protect them without this waterproof cuticle they die.

To make sure you kill this insects in your garden, get some dish washing liquid and warm water and cover your plants with it. It will destroy this waterproof cuticle and kill the insects without harming your plants. :)

Cleaning out the Refrigerator

I hope I am not the only one who has a mess of a Refrigerator. Cleaning it is a pain in the butt. Especially since you have to clean out all the yuckiness inside. Personal advice on this one is to get those nice gloves yes those lovely yellow rubber ones and get to cracking. I must say it was awful we had a moldy fruit in the crisper drawers, old yogurt, and dried out carrots
My best suggestions for tackling this job is do it a layer at a time. I started with the crisper drawers. I washed them with soap and as hot as I could stand it water. The next day start working on the next level. I am lazy and this seems to be the thing that works for me.

This is a wonderful example of how it looks. Another a little tip if you have a problem with animals getting into your garbage spray something that has ammonia in it and spray it on the garbage.

Hydrogen Peroxide&Baking Soda vs. Bar Keepers Friend

Alright so my Grandmother and I were talking about what would be best to clean the cracks and crevices. I personally believe that Hydrogen Peroxide&Baking Soda is a god send in those time of cleaning needs. So I did my own little test. I can't really call it an experiment being a Science major that just makes me twitchy.

                                                                   The Competitor

My Grandmother swears by this stuff.

The challenger's caulk cleaning. I sat the solution for 20 minutes and then cleaned with a toothbrush. I don't like how it doesn't have a steady stream. It cleaned okay for my taste, but i didn't like how watery it was.

This is the cleaning from the hydrogen peroxide solution. I love how I could easily spoon it out. I also loved how easy it was to clean. The paste was easy to make and very cost effective.

Hydrogen Peroxide and Baking Soda Peroxide Paste

1/4 cup of baking soda

Add the hydrogen peroxide slowly until it makes a paste.

Personally I think the Hydrogen Peroxide&Baking Soda wins, but you can be the judge.

Here is a price comparison:

$2.59 for a 13 oz bottle of Bar Keepers Friend

For the hydrogen peroxide it is about a $1 per 16 oz bottle.

For the baking soda it is $0.54 at Walmart's brand

So $1.54 vs. $2.59.

So baking soda and hydrogen peroxide is the clear winner on that one.

Cake Pops

So I bet you have seen the cake pops on TV. For Christmas aka my birthday this year we made this year in the Messy Gourmet KitchenI am going to review what I thought about them.

First hint when doing these don't listen to your grandmother sitting there telling you to flour the pan because one definitely don't do that. It is a non-stick pan so a little cooking spray works wonders.

Caption: See what not to do

Caption: When said Grandmother asks you to flour the pan don't do it!

A real interesting thing my Aunt and I discovered was that the cake pop pan does overflow with some batter.

Yes that is what they look like, They make a good nose cup.

The end result was very nice I really liked the taste. They weren't too hard to decorate but it was a pain trying to find somewhere to place them to decorate. Now they need to make a special tray to put the cake pop sticks in to decorate. The end result is nice right

And all I have to say is enjoy and feel free to laugh at the ugly sweaters. It was the birthday theme. The last one was just for the laughs.
