Pantene Beautiful Lengths
Well now this is an interesting little prose I am writing. About a week ago I cut of 11 inches of my hair to donate. Yes a lot of people told me to donate it to Locks for Love, but after doing some research and talking to my friend, Michaela, I decided to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths program for many reasons. My first reason is that you only need to donate 8 inches. My second reason was that it is for all women not just children. My third reason is the Locks for Love say that they donate to cancer children, however, they usually DENY children with cancer because they have good chances for remission and other children such as children with alopecia which I do respect since they do not ever have hair, but they shouldn't be claiming to give to cancer children they should talk about their help with children with alopecia too. My fourth reason is that Pantene is a company that can put money into these wigs compared to Locks for Love having to sell off unused hair (which I have read is sometime questionable btw). I will do a follow up when i receive my letter from them that the hair was received.
If you are wanting to donate to Pantene Beautiful Lengths program, please look at the link below

GMO (Genetically Modified Organisms)
One thing that I think confuses many people is the debate about whether to allow the use of GMOs in our agricultural crops. Monsanto is the name that has been thrown around with people saying either they are the devil or that they are great for our country. With the Monsanto Protection Act, these seeds would be protected. However, I want to tell you exactly the potential risks.
One big concern is the use of antibiotic resistant genes that are used as marks that could lead to antibiotic resistant bacterial strains! You know the whole antibiotic resistant thing means you can take medicine to "cure" those right? There is also concern that there might be toxins in the crops such as heavy metals in larger amounts than normal. Yes, research has been shown that the actual crops used in human consumption poses little to no health risk to the population. There seriously needs to be more research done in this field of study before pushing GMOs down the throat of the majority of the human populations. We need to look at the effects it will have on the population in years to come not just the risk of consumption now!

Pollen and junk.
I live in Tennessee and our pollen count is EXTREMELY high this time of year like seriously cars are yellow! So today I am going to talk about bee pollen and its uses in holistic medicine. My grandmother swears that this is the cure for allergies. Well, I am here to settle this. Based on plant biology, we know that bee pollen will not help your allergies. Sorry. *hands you a klennex*
Now, I will give you the science-y reasoning behind this, you know the pollen you see on your cars and such occurs by wind-pollinated plants. This means that there "sperm" is passed by wind compared to bee pollinated which is passed by bees. So the bee pollen will not help your allergies.

Cell phones causing cancer??!
Alright so I have been seeing on Facebook this thing about keeping your phone under your pillow will increase your risk for cancer?! Well as some people might know, I am a Molecular Biology Major and I am calling bs! Yes bs my friends! If you are like me (no, I don't mean being all geeky and science-y like me?), then you have to have your phone under your pillow or there is no way you are waking up for the (insert boring job, school, or miscellaneous activity that you have to do before 10 o'clock in the morning). I personally would be super late for class everyday if my phone wasn't underneath my head.
Now, to give a little bit of scientific detail.....well we have these things called ionizing radiation, which we get from x-rays and UV rays. And cell phones use radio waves, which are non-ionizing radiation. The frequencies that we get from things like microwaves and radio waves do not cause an increase in the likelihood of Cancer. Soooooo, for the jest of this post, CELL PHONES DO NOT CAUSE CANCER. Oh and just by the way, tanning beds use UV lights just remember that when you are getting those precious tans. :)

Trust me it is helpful for all us busy bees out there. My Fitness Pal Profile <----- here is a link right here. I haven't really worked with it yet much but I was working with it last year sometimes. So join the journey with me. :)

Killing bugs
First a little info.... I am a molecular biology major so you might be getting a few hints now and then from me in the biology department
My hint today is how to kill those pesky insects in your garden and give you a biology lesson while I am at it
Insects are arthropods so they have a waterproof cuticle to protect them without this waterproof cuticle they die.
To make sure you kill this insects in your garden, get some dish washing liquid and warm water and cover your plants with it. It will destroy this waterproof cuticle and kill the insects without harming your plants. :)

Cleaning out the Refrigerator
I hope I am not the only one who has a mess of a Refrigerator. Cleaning it is a pain in the butt. Especially since you have to clean out all the yuckiness inside. Personal advice on this one is to get those nice gloves yes those lovely yellow rubber ones and get to cracking. I must say it was awful we had a moldy fruit in the crisper drawers, old yogurt, and dried out carrots
My best suggestions for tackling this job is do it a layer at a time. I started with the crisper drawers. I washed them with soap and as hot as I could stand it water. The next day start working on the next level. I am lazy and this seems to be the thing that works for me.
This is a wonderful example of how it looks. Another a little tip if you have a problem with animals getting into your garbage spray something that has ammonia in it and spray it on the garbage.
